Looking At Luxury Apartments? 3 Service Professionals To Look For

Jesse Obrien

Luxury living is all about taking routine elements of everyday life and making them simpler and more enjoyable. However, choosing a luxury property can be tricky when you don't know what to look for. Here are three service professionals you should ask about when you search for a luxury apartment and how they can help.

1. Doorman

If you've ever checked out a movie where someone lived in a luxurious skyrise, you may have seen them greet the doorman on their way into the building. Doormen and doorwomen have a responsibility to open and close the door for people as they come and go while simultaneously acting as a gatekeeper to the building's entrance.

Doormen get to know the tenants of the building and are the first line of defense against anyone who may be entering the property illicitly. As an added bonus, doormen may also provide complementary services such as signing for packages, hailing taxis, and helping you to load luggage into your car.

2. Cleaning Team

When you have a luxury apartment, the last thing you will want to deal with is a mess. To make things easier, some buildings even have their own dedicated cleaning team that can come in, spruce up your place on a daily basis, and keep your property shiny and clean. One of the perks of dedicated cleaners is the fact that you can get to know them, which makes it easier to trust them with your home. Additionally, as dedicated cleaners, their fees may be included in the price of your apartment, which can help you to save a little money.

3. Concierge

Think of a concierge as a personal assistant who happens to also work for everyone else in the building. In addition to booking dinner reservations for you, concierges can also help you find directions, answer quick questions, book a hotel, or help you find a flight. Concierges are excellent sources of information, especially in regards to things to do and see around town. They are quick to recommend great restaurants and give you ideas about places to go and things to do, which can be helpful if you need to plan a date after showing off your new luxury apartment.

Anytime you are thinking seriously about investing in a luxury property, visit several potential apartments before choosing a place to call home. Talk with the management at length about the policies, accommodations, and rental contracts. Be sure to have your lawyer and real estate agent look over the terms to make sure they are favorable.

About Me
Basics of Property Management: Screening Potential Tenants

For the last several years, I've used a property management firm to help with my rental properties. One of the tasks that they handle for me is screening applicants who would like to move into one of my vacant units. Their expertise has helped me lower my tenant turnover and find people who want to stay with me for years. Part of the process is a tenant screening credit check. Before any further contact takes place, my manager orders credit reports from at least two agencies. That is enough to tell us if an applicant is a good financial risk. Assuming the references work out, I meet the candidate and make the final decision. If you own rental properties, let me tell you more about the benefits of having a property manager. I'm betting you'll find this type of arrangement will work for you too.
