5 Reasons To Rent A Studio Apartment

Jesse Obrien

A studio apartment is an apartment that consists of a main living space and a bathroom. It's essentially one small, open living space. Here are five reasons to rent one of these apartments instead of a one or two bedroom:

  1. It's Affordable:  If you are looking to save money, living in a studio apartment is definitely the most affordable living option. Not only will rent be cheaper compared to a one or two bedroom apartment, but you also won't have to decorate as much space. This is going to save you money on furniture and other home decor. On top of this, you can expect your electricity bill to be significantly less since you won't need to use as much energy to keep your apartment cool during the summer or warm during the winter.
  2. Live in More Expensive Areas:  If you aren't worried too much about saving money, but can't afford to live in a one or two bedroom apartment downtown or in other expensive areas, then rent out a studio apartment. This allows you to experience downtown living or even beachfront living for a more affordable price.
  3. Forces You to Downsize: When you live in a studio apartment, you won't have enough space to leave it cluttered. This is going to help you downsize your living significantly. You won't keep stuff around that you don't need. Plus, cleaning will probably get done more often because your studio apartment will appear to be dirtier than if you were in a larger space where the mess could be spread out. This is great practice for developing good cleaning habits.
  4. Forces You to Get Out:  Being in such a small space can definitely make you a bit stir crazy, which can definitely forces you to get out more. This is definitely beneficial if you are looking to experience more out of life and if you are living in a new area that you've never lived in before. Plus, since you are saving money on rent, you can afford to do more.
  5. Forces You to Get Creative: Dividing up your living space from your bedroom is a challenge in a studio apartment, but it isn't impossible. This is going to force you to get creative in your decorating skills. This is definitely beneficial in getting in touch with your own creative mind and it can help in the future when it comes to decorating other homes that you live in.

When you know these five reasons for renting a studio apartment, you can see why it can definitely be beneficial for you, especially while you are young, single, and looking to experience more of life.

About Me
Basics of Property Management: Screening Potential Tenants

For the last several years, I've used a property management firm to help with my rental properties. One of the tasks that they handle for me is screening applicants who would like to move into one of my vacant units. Their expertise has helped me lower my tenant turnover and find people who want to stay with me for years. Part of the process is a tenant screening credit check. Before any further contact takes place, my manager orders credit reports from at least two agencies. That is enough to tell us if an applicant is a good financial risk. Assuming the references work out, I meet the candidate and make the final decision. If you own rental properties, let me tell you more about the benefits of having a property manager. I'm betting you'll find this type of arrangement will work for you too.
