Spruce Up Property Outdoors To Attract Potential Customers To The Old Home You Are Selling

Jesse Obrien

If you would like to sell your older home for a profitable amount, the following tips can be used to spruce up the property outdoors so that potential customers are attracted to your residence. Once individuals set up appointments to view the home, as long as the inside of it is clean and damage-free, you may be able to sell your property for the amount desired in a reasonable amount of time.

Lawn Ornaments

Rake your lawn and cut grass before placing lawn ornaments in areas that are lacking decorative features. Place a gazing ball that complements the color of your home in front of your property or install a small water fountain or another type of water feature to draw attention to your yard. If a lot of birds live near your home, add a couple bird feeders or a fancy birdbath to your yard. The ornaments that are installed may provide interested people with ideas of how they can decorate the property if they decide to purchase the residence.

Patio Furniture

If your home has a large front porch added to it or if an outdoor patio is located on your property, fill it with patio furniture. Recliners, standard chairs, small tables, hammocks, and a large swing can create an outdoor area with an interesting appearance. Use linens to cover tables and place attractive pillows on furniture that can be used for resting.

If there is an electrical box located outdoors that is within reach, plug in a portable radio and fan on days that your property will be viewed. Not only may potential buyers be interested in the outdoor sitting and resting area that you have created, they may also decide to use it once finished touring your home. Offer each visitor a cold drink and be available to answer any questions that people have.

Bordered Entrance Way

Create a border around the sidewalk that leads to your home by planting some colorful flowers or small bushes on each side of it. If you are going to be showing your home to individuals during times that it is dark outside or gloomy, due to the weather conditions, enhance the entrance way to your home by installing LED lights that are battery-operated in between the flowers or bushes that you have planted.

If your home's exterior has a bland appearance, due to the lack of trees or flowering plants that are located near it, plant some flowers or small bushes in front of your residence, as well.

All of these tips will help draw attention to your home and may encourage many people to stop by in order to find out more about the residence and property that is for sale. Contact local professionals, such as those from Re/Max Alliance - The Diane Stow Team, for further assistance.

About Me
Basics of Property Management: Screening Potential Tenants

For the last several years, I've used a property management firm to help with my rental properties. One of the tasks that they handle for me is screening applicants who would like to move into one of my vacant units. Their expertise has helped me lower my tenant turnover and find people who want to stay with me for years. Part of the process is a tenant screening credit check. Before any further contact takes place, my manager orders credit reports from at least two agencies. That is enough to tell us if an applicant is a good financial risk. Assuming the references work out, I meet the candidate and make the final decision. If you own rental properties, let me tell you more about the benefits of having a property manager. I'm betting you'll find this type of arrangement will work for you too.
