2 Reasons To Rent A Storage Unit In An Outdoor Facility

Jesse Obrien

Renting a storage unit from an outdoor facility is a great choice, mostly because of the many benefits that an outdoor storage facility provides. In most cases, an outdoor storage facility will have all of the storage units located in a fenced or walled in area that is only accessible via a security gate. Two reasons to rent a unit in an outdoor facility instead of an indoor one are convenience and price.

Convenience

Indoor storage facilities are typically not the most convenient option available, mostly because of all of the restrictions that the facility has to place on you. For example, indoor facilities often have restricted hours in which you can access your storage unit. Sure, the facility will often be open for longer than standard business hours, but the restricted hours still mean that you cannot access your items whenever you want.

Another downside to an indoor facility is that you will not have the luxury of being able to drive directly to the door of your storage unit. This means that you will need to carry your items through the building in order to get the items to and from your storage unit.

However, neither of those issues will affect you if you rent from an outdoor storage facility. Since the facility is located outside, you can drive your vehicle directly to your unit, which makes storing and picking up items much more convenient and less time-consuming.

An outdoor facility will often place no restrictions on the hours in which you can access your unit. You will be able to get to your items as long as you have your access code for the gate.

Price

Indoor storage facilities are going to be the more expensive of the two storage options. This is because indoor storage options typically have higher levels of security and have climate-controlled storage units.

However, if you are planning on storing items that are not sensitive to temperature shifts, then you can save yourself a bit of money on your monthly storage fees by simply renting from an outdoor facility. In addition, while many outdoor facilities do not have the same level of security as an indoor facility, the security they do have is more than sufficient for most items. For example, many outdoor storage facilities have 24-hour surveillance in addition to the locked security gate.

Speak an outdoor storage facility, like Add-A-Room Self Storage, in order to discuss the many ways in which they can help you out. Compared to an indoor facility, an outdoor facility can make picking up and storing your items convenient and also save you some money.

About Me
Basics of Property Management: Screening Potential Tenants

For the last several years, I've used a property management firm to help with my rental properties. One of the tasks that they handle for me is screening applicants who would like to move into one of my vacant units. Their expertise has helped me lower my tenant turnover and find people who want to stay with me for years. Part of the process is a tenant screening credit check. Before any further contact takes place, my manager orders credit reports from at least two agencies. That is enough to tell us if an applicant is a good financial risk. Assuming the references work out, I meet the candidate and make the final decision. If you own rental properties, let me tell you more about the benefits of having a property manager. I'm betting you'll find this type of arrangement will work for you too.
